Resize latex mattress from Queen to Full!. Here is the short version of the process. All steps included. I used a super cheap oster electric carving knife.
I bought the Queen latex mattress and then cut it down to a full size with an electric turkey carving knife so it fits in my studio. I put the original ikea fire bag and zippered mattress cover back on (no sewing) and then stuffed everything into a cheap $40 futon mattress cover from Target. It looks gorgeous and feels great.
I cut the mattress to 74x50 (not 75x54) and with the original queen cover (now oversized) rolled up on the short ends, it fits in the full futon cover tight and square.
I saved the cut latex ends incase I want make it into a queen bed later. All you have to do if you want to upsize later is to use fabric glue spray (or nothing) and put all parts back into tight a cover. Mo one will know it was ever cut.
